These specialists work with faculty to prepare the financial information for grant and contract proposals. They provide guidance on the financial requirements of the proposal, and enter the financial information in the proper forms. They prepare the routing packet for review/approval through the OSU routing system before the proposal can be submitted. They work closely with the Faculty Resource Center personnel to make sure the proposal is complete and accurate before submission. After an award is received, the specialists route the award through the OSU system, and request an account to be set up. The specialists will manage the administrative portion of the award so the faculty member can concentrate their efforts on the research. Their duties involve monitoring the expenses on the account, addressing any financial issues on the award, making sure the expenses are correctly recorded on the appropriate account, and working through the financial closure of the project. The specialists are available to answer questions the faculty may have about allowablilty of charges, how to go about requesting an extension or budget revision. They are there to handle any questions or concerns the faculty may have about the administration of the project.
