Melissa is responsible for developing and submitting the majority of research proposals for the College of Arts and Sciences. Since she began working for Research Support Services, Melissa has submitted well over 2,000 grant proposals. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2011 with a master's in English, specializing in technical writing, and began working for RSS in July of that year. In her time at RSS, Melissa has enjoyed working in partnership with faculty, graduate students and undergraduate students to submit successful grant proposals. Moreover, she has been able to utilize her technical-writing background to benefit faculty and students throughout the College as they seek funding. Melissa’s favorite part of working in research is solving the challenges involved in working with grants: “Research funding is an ever-changing landscape, so we must always be ready to adapt and ask questions. I enjoy helping faculty and students wade through these challenges in order to get their projects submitted. And, at the end of the day, there’s nothing better than seeing those same projects get funded.”
