CAS Research Office Policies

Cost Share Policy

The policy of the University is to assume a cost-sharing commitment only when required by the sponsor or by the competitive nature of the award and then to cost share only to the extent necessary to meet the specific requirements of the sponsored project. For more information about the OSU cost share policy, including under what circumstances it is considered and how to request it, view the cost share policy document.

Incentive Salary Policy for Arts and Humanities

Oftentimes major grants within Arts and Humanities fields (such as NEA, NEH, Fulbright, Kluge, Folger) offer award amounts that are below the cost of usual salary/benefit packages. For faculty who receive these awards, CAS will match those grants up to the value of salary and benfits to allow the faculty member to take research leave time.

Limited Submissions

Government agencies as well as private foundations and corporate sponsors sometimes choose to limit the number of submissions per institution for specific awards. When this is the case, limited submission competitions at Oklahoma State University are conducted internally by the Office of University Research Services. You can find more information about Limited Submissions here as well as sign up to be on a listserv to receive these opportunities as they are presented.

Compensation for Human Subject Research Participants

Research participants can be paid from the CAS imprest cash (bank) account that will be replenished from a Researcher identified account. How the subject is paid (cash, check, or gift card) is up to the Researcher. Imprest cash is a check and receipt system. Checks are written to individuals and receipts are used to process a requisition to replenish the account from the specified account. To request compensation for human subjects, please read the attached policy and complete the request form. Questions can be directed to Bobbie Sue Bower at bobbie.sue.bower@okstate.edu
or 405-744-8453.

Conflict of Interest

Faculty, staff, and student employees who make spending decisions, direct sponsored research, supervise employees, or teach students are required to disclose any potential conflict of interest, of which they are aware. The OSU Conflict of Interest Policy provides guidance for disclosing certain financial interests if reasonably appearing as related to the exercise of University employee’s duties. The policy presumes that personal financial interests should not influence the performance of University duties, but recognizes that many interests presenting a potential conflict may be permissible if disclosed and properly managed. Annual conflict of interest forms are handled within CAS at the department level.
